Brands and Companies
In today's modern society we seem to be, no we really are in fact, surrounded by brands and companies, multinationals and their products. We consume a lot, spend a lot and so there are of course a lot of products and things to choose from to meet demand. We go our daily lives buying X brand of car and buying Y movie, eating this drinking that; And we never actually think or even care about if all these products are connected somehow. And well, they are.
It's quite fascinating to see that what we think are isolated things are actually part of such a diverse network where in the end they all end up having a relation with other companies. I've got to admit I had a few minutes of fun looking into this one and trying to find how could I get from food to electronics or some other unrelated subjects.
Even though many of them have no "direct" connection it's still worth of notice how actually what we think are concurrent companies or rivals are really just a part of a greater machine which in turn just makes me wonder if they all just don't concur in many of the prices, practices and campaigns they hold because in the end they all "feed" off each other apparently.
It's a pretty interesting graph to look upon for the simple fact that you can get astonished by the relationships that are going on in the big business world.
Organized Crime
Crime has been part of us as human race since the dawn of our times. I would risk it and say it's in our nature, big or small crimes, greater or lesser will to do it. So, knowing this we, as intelligent beings develop justice, authorities and a bunch of other systems and methods to deal with this, by punishment mostly.
Now days a good penal system, organized police force as well as judges, courts, prisons, fees and lawyers are all part of a greater system called the law. Well a normal, respectful, well adjusted citizen would go on about his/her life without having to deal with such things as long as no borders are crossed, well that works for most of the people but there will always be criminals. And thats where I want to get to, because as it seems crime can be a profession too and it seems to move a lot of money doing so.
This infograph shows what, who and where do the biggest organizations, yes they can organize themselves just like any other professional person, operate. Many of them, if not all, made famous by movies, mainly the italian mafia of course. But not only them hold business in the organized crime scene and they certainly don't seem to cover all of its "fields". The russian, the mexican, chinese and japanese all hold expertise in some areas of illegal activity. And it's not the ranks numbers that surprise me but rather the massive amount of money made through such activities it's astonishing.
In a way they help keep the world spinning, although in a completely wrong way to do it, but the money flows and families are fed, many at the cost of other lives which is just unethical. It's an interesting graph and even a bit shocking but worth it.

When too much alcohol is...too much
Alcohol when drank in moderate doses can help in things like confidence, relaxing, loosening up a bit in social environments. Speaking by experience it helped me achieve some things but, and there's always a but to it, I lost many others and made myself look like a fool some other times.
It would be a nice trade off if it was only just a question of social silliness and appearing like a clown, it goes deeper than that more specifically health and related subjects. This Infograph here is quite explanatory of such problems derived from too much alcohol ingestion. It's astonishing to see how it can make so much damage, not only to men but women too.
For example let's take into account the effects on sexual related organs and systems, it interferes with the some of the core things that makes a man, well, a man, reproductive system, impotence, infertility, reduced beard and chest hair! Well, I don't know about others out there but I like my beard and chest hair thank you! One other scary fact is that 90% of the alcohol consumed by youth under 21 is bing drinks! Now this is worrying, although I was once part of such statistics life taught me that it wasn't good to be on the 90% side and seeing this value so high makes me wonder where's the control most of the time and where's the education by parents to at least "scare" youths to be a little less inconsiderate of their own health.
Car crashes and accidents in general, due to alcohol are a daily thing still avoidable and perfectly idiotic to still occur. As for women statistics showing how drinking too much is, even though not in a direct way, responsible for spreading STD's is another concerning thing, specially in this day and age when so much time, money and resources is spent on awareness.
10 facts about Guiness
I thought that dedicating a post to one of the most, if not the most renown and popular beer in the world would be something nice. Guiness' brand is famous, no doubt and personally I think it is indeed a fine beer so why not go over some interesting facts about the brand and the beer itself of course.
It's interesting and fascinating to see that for example in 1888 Guiness had the largest brewery in the world, which is quite amazing for a feat. Another interesting thing, that shows something tht s quite unusual either for the time or even the present is that they gave out free beer to the British soliders fighting in the war, taken it's that much of a gift during a war but still marketing scheme or not it was nice of them to do so.
It's a well known fact that the Irish love beer and it seems half of that love is reserved for Guiness beer, I won't criticize it though! Not that the whole 10 facts aren't interesting but a final one worth mentioning would be that a pint of Guiness has less calories than the same amount of orenge juice, now that is something I was not expecting since we're taught that alcohol has lots of calories and so on and then I'm shown that something that we suppose to be less caloric reveals itself like this! Interesting!
Debt and America
As a follow up from the previous post it seemed only logical to InfoTip you with a very related subject. So where did all the money? The infographic is pretty accurate and rich on that information but let's take a go at it for a shorter explanation.
It basically starts with the banks themselves, back before the housing market crash, credit was indeed easy to obtain, really easy. People needed credit to get their dream house and banks lent it with the usual interest. Well the problem with how things were going is that they started "betting" on loans, which would be successful and be paid and which would fail basically, the riskier the better and so loans were given to people that didn't met the requirements to have one. This went on for quite a while a huge bubble, everyone is buying homes and so due to various reasons but mainly supply and demand rules, the house prices dropped, a real vertigo fall. What follows is the crash of the entire system built around the loans and houses banks where giving to people. This whole situation made major lenders stop lending due to panic and fear to never get their money back plunging the global economy, which is heavily established on lending and and debt, into the current downturn we're living many banckrupcies, unemployment and stock selloffs all because of the lack of credit and the very strict rules now active to control it.
It's a very informative graph and accessible and it gives the general idea of the why's of the situation we're in as well as explaining a bit of the value of money which is quite interesting to know about since every day we're presented with news about money printing by the FED or the European Central Bank and many people don't know or don't realize where exactly does it come from.
Average American Debt
Well, it might be a bit too much to start off with such a theme: debt, but it's a current one and a bit scary if you look at it. It's surprising that the average American ends up in such conditions in such a short amount of time. Taken that they're not all obligatory expenditures, it's still frightening that this is a reality for so many. It's fine if the income is superior to what's spent but being in debt so early as age 20? Kinda like being enslaved right at the start of your adult life!
It would be great if it ended right there, you ask for a loan towards your studies and you pay it when you get your 1st real job, but what really is scary is that it only gets worse and worse, adding up with car, taxes, marriage(although this one can be adverted of course) and to top it all off house mortgage.
The graph speaks for itself but it makes me wonder on how does the average American still survives in the middle of all this and how can it be that it's allowed. It seems, by a quick look at things that this system is almost conceived so that you can't get rid of it easily and just keep paying up.
What is ITO?
